Museum of Mining as its focus. . The pre-feasibility study, conducted by H.A. Simons (International) Ltd., DPA Consulting Lid. and Ejikos Planning and Environmental Design Group Ltd., was funded under the Travel Industry Development Subsidiary Agreement (TIDSA) and was released early this summer. After receiving the report, the museum board of directors initiated a review of the study as recom- mended by the consultants. The board agreed in June to take the next recommended step: development of the ownership and financial structure of the theme park. In 1979 the -Britannia Beach Historical Society, the non-profit body which operates the B.C. Museum of Mining, was granted a 99- year lease on 13 acres of land adjacent to the museum site by. Dome Petroleum. The museum is acquiring title to an additional 27 acres of prime land donated by Copper Beach Estates Ltd. Copper Beach holds acreage at Britannia Beach previously held by Anaconda Canada Limited, former operators of the Britannia copper mine. The TIDSA study O/ recommended © that the theme park be privately operated on a seasonal basis and combine elements of an exciting amusement park with aspects of an authentic 1920’s B.C. mining com- munity. The B.C. Museum of Mining now provides a unique opportunity for British Columbians to learn about the province’s mining industry, from the carly days of metal use to modern mining. NV disco sexist? Is a North Vancouver disco guilty of reverse sex discrimination? That's what City Alderman Frank Marcino wants to know. Marcino told council recently he has noticed a sign outside Whispers at 1421 Lonsdale announcing “Ladies Only” nights Monday and Tuesday. The sign advertises male exotic dancers performing from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. these nights. Marcino asked city ad- ministrator Ed Raymond to look into the matter and see whether only ladies are allowed at these times. If so, Marcino said, Raymond should see whether this violates Whispers’ licence. year term, interest _. paid annually.
