scoozami's appetizer
menu ($6 to $9) is more
than a match for any summer
evening appetite.

Combine, for example, a
Grilled Soy Salmon with
some Garlic Tiger Prawns or

ellent French Goat
¢ Salad with Seared
on Carpaccio.

Hard to go wrong here.

The Goat Cheese Salad
comes aboard an expansive
white serving plate. You get
a round of cheese warmed to
melting atop crisp French
bread melba roast. A side of
sauteed wild mushrooms
accompanies.

The Garlic Prawns also
come highly recommended.

Chef Jack sautes them in
a tart lemon/lime with a
touch of olive oil and garlic.
Your dish comes with capers
and diced fresh tomatoes.

Your accompaniment is a
basket of fresh baked
Scoozami bread. I sugge
adding to that accompani-
ment a glass or two of New.
Zealand's excellent Oyst
Bay Sauvignon Blanc.

From the nightly fresh
sheet, the sampled Roasted
Quail combined four small
quail drumsticks arop mari-
nated portabellini mush-
rooms and mixed greens.

The surrounding coulis
had an endearingly mild
curry edge.

However, I found the
quail overly salted.

Scoozami’s wine list is
much improved from its
early days when you could
count the selection on one
hand.

There’s now at least 15
by the glass ($6.50 to $8.50)
and two dozen by the bottle
($25 to $60) — all good
quality selections from
California, Australia, Italy
and Australia.

Service is efficient and the
atmosphere is bistro-friendly
with a couch of soul courtesy
of James Brown on the
soundtrack.
