The 19-me..aber senior vocal ensemble performed at the gala event held to kick offa new pro- gram to promote organ donation amonyst teenagers in B.C. high schools. Argyle choir director Frances Roberts said the group performed “Jambo,” a greeting song from Kenya sung in the Swahili lan- guage, and “Chili Con Carne,” a humorous Swedish-penned song about making the fiery dish. Among those present at the event were JUNO and Grammy winner David Foster — the brain- child of the program — David Usher of the band Moist and up- and-coming singer Dayna Manning. ; Roberts said that although the students were impressed to be close to Foster, they were more excited about seeing Usher, the lead singer of Moist. ; “Sound off — Save a life,” is a partnership with the David Foster Foundation and the provincial ministry of education. eo0 Boisterous, bittersweet, La Boheme.
