THE North Van
Liberals are deciding
today whether to
choose Warren Kinsella
to run in the federal
election against
Reformer Ted White.

Let's hope they take him.
White would wipe the floor
with him. Last ume, White
bear Mobina Jaffer by 4,300
votes even though Ortawa
poured gold into her cam-
paign. She has now moved her
pitch co Burnaby.

White is one of the best
MPs in the country. He takes
his orders from his con-
stituents, not from the party
brass. Kinsella, on the other
hand, is a well-trained Liberal
seal who would raise his flipper
on command.

The gun control issue was
an example of White’s integri-
ty. He didn’t like it. His con-
stituents did. So he voted for
it.

Kinsella parachuted himself
into North Van after being
what Frank magazine would
call a fart-catcher for Liberal
biggies in Ortawa.

He is a foreigner to these
parts and generous with bilge.

Christie’s Western Canada
Concept (WCC) in 1983, and
Kinsella has reportedly stated

Vancouver Coun. Ernie
Crist has brought up the
wood-burning fireplace
issue.

Most homes being built
today have energy-efficient
gas fireplaces. Many older
homes are being renovated
and gas fireplaces installed,
thereby reducing the num-
ber of wood-burning fire-
places.

Also, firewood is becom-
ing difficult and expensive to
obtain. If one takes a walk
on a cold winter’s night,
there are not many fireplaces
burning. It would appear
that people are beginning to
regulate themselves and do
not need the intervention by
North Vancouver District
Council or the Greater
Vancouver Regional Distri

Over the next 15 or
years, wood-burning fire-
places will be a thing of the
past. Let council spend their
time on something more
worthwhile and productive.
