event's total take of $18,000. The fundraiser was
held in. conjunction with West Vancouver
Recreation Centre. Proceeds will be used for
seniors’ programming. -

THE North Shore Recycling Program
(NSRP) has launched an interactive
education program on reducing, reusing
and recycling at North Shore elemen-
tary schools,

Said NSRP community programs coor-
dinator Maureen Rae-Chute, “It’s a chance
for students to see just how easy it is to
reduce garbage and contribute to a health-
ier North Shore community.”

In class, students share ideas on reduc:
ing, garbage. One exercise reduces a large
bag of garbage by almost half within 15
minutes as students come up with disposal
alternatives. The program was designed
earlier this year and was applauded by
teachers in June at pilot presentations at
Capilano and Norgate schools.
