SEVERAL MONTHS ago, the North Shore News’
reported that the British chain Marks and Spencer intro-

duced designer lines into,some of its stores across Canada,

Now the company has expanded that concept into a
new, store called Concept 2000 which was launched in
Toronto in mid-April. The new. $1.2 million store is
planned to set the direction for the future look of Marks
and Spencer stores across Canada.

The shop features exclusive imported European fash-
ions for men, women and children, with another 30% of

a shop-within-a-shop with its own mall entrance.

The dramatic change in Marks and Spencer's merchan-
dising plan was initiated to increase the profitability of the
Canadian operations by showing customers that the compu-
ny has a renewed interest in providing a high level of quality.

Top U.S. fragrance only sold at The Bay

The Bay recently launched the Jessica McClintock fra-

* grance line and has scooped its exclusive rights making it

available in The Bay across Canada.

Currently one of the top ten best sellers at U.S. ‘fra-
grance counters, the scent is said to be as romantic as the
