to save the closed Wolverine copper-tubing plant. Labor
Minister Moe Sihota said last week the government was
considering using the Trade Practices Act or injunctions
to prevent further dismantling of the plant which stos-
ped operating in April. The Canadian Association of
Industrial Mechanical and Allied Workers Union and a

Vancouver business consortium want to buy the plant
for an undisclosed sum, but the owners, who have a na-
tional monopoly on the product, refuse tu sell.
Wolverine, focated on Annacis Island, had employed
170 pecple. Recent reports revealed that the Wolverine
plant produced substandard pipes which were used in
