Bill Bell. ‘*I’m looking forward to seeing the staff report,’’ said Ald. Stella Jo Dean. She added that she wanted to see the ratio of gross floor area at .4 rather than .5 times the lot size. The resolution, which passed unanimously, stated that ‘‘there is great concern by many citizens as to the size of large (monster) homes being built on small and average-sized lots.’’ It also stated that council] nasn’t reviewed house size on such lots since 1987. MVD corner lot size to increase NORTH VANCOUVER District Council took a small step recently towards reducing the appearance of bulky houses in the municipali- ty by moving a bylaw amendment that will increase the width re- quired for the creation of new corner lots. The Task Force on Single-Fami- ly Housing Design Issues had recommended increasing sideyard setbacks by 10 feet on corner lots, and the recommendation was adopted by council in February. To avoid the creation of disproportionate houses during subdivision of corner lots the task force had also proposed that the minimum width for corner lots in all zoning categories be increased by 10 feet, and after unanimous council approval the proposal will now go to public hearing on July The amendment will not deal with current lots, but will apply, if passed, to all future in-fill sub- divisions and land development proposals.
