As the score suggests, this was a freewheeling, entertaining game which ended with Caps running out of time as they desperately at- tacked their opponents’ line trying for the equalizing score. The locals were down 13-18 at the half when Rob McKay scored two tries and Mark Shtenko kicked a penalty goal and a convert. In the second half, Rowing Club led by a 12-point margin but the Capilanos fought back in magnifi- cent style. Shtenko kicked three penalty goals and Justin McVeigh scored a try which Dean Massey — converted, With one converted try separating the sides, the Rowers were relieved to hear the final whistle. Other weekend rugby action had Capilanos Seconds defeat Rowing Club Seconds 18-3 while Capilanos Thirds dumped Rowing Club Thirds 3-0. Capilanos Fourths lost to Rowing Club Fourths 4-6.
