Weis, author of the book Weeds
and Seeds, and promoter of
organic gardening in British Col-
umbia, Ever since he was a small!
boy in Germany in the 1930s, and
helped to tend his grandfather's
garden for food, he has advocated
a pesticide-free approach to grow-
ing healthy plants.

Instead of using chemicals, he
puts compatible weeds and flowers
and vegetables together in his
garden beds to combat unwanted
pests and to encourage growth.

Weis will speak on Weeds and
Seeds at the Lynn Valley Library
in North Vancouver on Tuesday,
May 12, at 7 p.m.
