City raises deferred

A MOTION to increase the salaries of North

Vancouver City’s mayor

and aldermen was defer-

red by council to be discussed with other budget

matters in the new year.

In making his motion,
Ald. Allan Blair referred to
a Dec. 12, 1984 city report
that stated ‘‘a further four
per cent in aldermanic in-
demnities in line with the
1985 increase in CUPE rates
would bring aldermen’s in-
demnities to the figure
$8,583."

Blair requested a $326 in-
crease in aldermen’s salaries,
from $8,257 to $8,583.

Blair further said that the
mayor’s salary, which is
three times that of city
aldermen, was lower than
