Expo can sign up to have
personalized invitations sent
to them on their behalf as part
of the B.C. Invites the World
program.

Of the 1,986 prizes being
awarded, 1,900 will be
three-day passes to Expo and
86 will be return trips for
two to the fair from
anywhere in the world. For-
ty-three flights have already
been given. away, leaving
another 43 trips still
available for new entries.

So far, officials have
received 650,000 requests for
invitations, and hope to send
out nearly two inillion be-
fore next year’s opening. °

tangible way. The artist, a West Vancouver resident who
left Iran after the fall of the Shah, has done a painting on

W. Van residents think
flooding serious problem

WEST VANCOUVER eesi-
dents think creek flooding is
a serious problem which
should be dealt with; they
are thumbs down on
building an Arts Centre; but
they are content with
municipal services.

All this and more is re-
corded in a survey recently
released by West Vancouver
District Council.

Conducted last month, the
survey’s objectives ‘were to
obtain a measure of citizen
attitudes about the quality of
municipal services,”’ as well
as the level of municipal
taxes and preferred 1985/86
budgets and taxes.

Selected by random
method, professional inter-
viewers surveyed by tele-
phone 400 respondants.

Highlights of the survey
are as follows: ~

Sixty-three per cent of
those interviewed thought
creek flooding in West Van-
couver a serious problem
and 78 per cent thought that
the municipality should
undertake improvements to
lessen the impact of
flooding. Thirty-eight per
cent favored raising money
for creek improvements by a
$50 tax for 20 years. Twen-
ty-eight per cent wanted the
