High tech world alien is to us

Dear Editor:

At last month’s end people
were marching once more to
demonstrate to governments
that the Arms Race should
end.

The politicians in our
western industrialized
societies have been quite
unable to prevent corpora-
tions from replacing men and
women by machines. While
this happens we have conti-
nuing unemployment.

Less and less buying power
is distributed to the populace.
At the same time all funds
distributed to aid people in
financial difficulties are cut
back. Who can possibly buy
all the quantities flooding the
market? Should not an
economic system serve
mankind not just provide
profits for a super elite who
are using the world’s

resources to pile up more
nuclear arms already festoon-

ing the earth.

I dread this high
technology so boasted about.
It alienates man from. his
fellows and the natural en-
vironment. So alien to us is
this abstract world of sym-
bols, without feeling, we are

incapable of entering it. We
are at the mercy of an in-
tellectual elite whose aims
and their results we pro-
foundly distrust.
