THE NORTH Shore Rescue team got its whole
Christmas dinner party in this year — but it was nip

and tuck for a while.

A year ago at this ume, the
searchers were just sitting
down to their festive meal
when an avalanche ripped
down Mt. Shear and stranded
a group of hikers.

That put the rescue team
on stand-by.

This year, the group was
about to again sit down to
dinner when the pager worn
by co-ordinator Jeff Jeffert
started to beep.

The call was from the West
Vancouver police who were
alerting the searchers to a
possible search in the Cypress
Bowl area.

Dinner proceeded when,
just before a rescue team was
to be dispatched, 1 was

reported that the last of the
missing hikers had walked
out of the area on his own.
The searchers sat down
and celebrated the fact that
