Ask candidates about preschools Dear Editor: As a mother of a preschool child I am con- cerned with the lack of interest towards preschool education. How can children become our No.1! resource if we deny them the proper educational opportunities during their most formative years? We need better facilities for nursery schools and daycare centres. During the upcoming election an emphasis should be placed on these issues. If more people would voice their concerns about pre- school education, election hopefuls may begin to realize how important these assues are to a_ broad spectrum of the population and that some action is badly needed to improve the present situation. Margot Benzon West Vancouver pe] mailbox I ae First aid attendant saved life Dear Editor: May I make a belated comment on the article referring to the recent letter from Dr. F.C. Thompson commending the Emergency Health Services on the response of ambulance personnel. The article referred to the timely Ttesponse and the use of advanced techniques which resulted in a longshoreman, Dick Hardy's life being saved. While not wishing to detract from Dr. Thomp- son’s comments but rather to amplify them I would like to also draw attention to the fact that Mr. Hardy was injured at Vancouver Wharves Ltd. and due to the First Aid Attendant, Mr. Don Bazinet’s rapid and skilled response Mr. Hardy was kept alive until the arrival of the ambulance men eight minutes later. Recognition is due to both Mr. Bazinet and the am- bulance crews that in fact Mr. Hardy’s life was saved. H.R.Wood, President Vancouver Wharves Ltd.
