i 12 - Friday, duly 18, 1997 — North Shore News INQUIRING REPORTER Can women per form any job as well as men can? “ANYTHING you can do, IT can do better” — Annie Oakley. OK, maybe women can't perform every task better than men can, but how about equally well? We've core a long way from the notion that a woman’s place is exclusively in the home: nowadays, school-aged girls are encouraged to excel in math and sciences and to pursue such tradi- tionally male-dominated athletics as wrestling and rugby. An enlightened 56% of North Shore readers felt that generally women could perform jobs as well as men were able to; but when presented with examples such as firefighting and battling on the front lines, many respondents felt the sexes might not be so equal after all, reporter NORTH SHORE DEMOGRAPHICS Horseshoe Bay a Dundarave/Amblesidc - British: Properties _Norgate/Pemberton Heights Capilano/Delbrovuk Highlands : * Lower Lonsdaie |... . 43.5% 43.5% « * Central and U; pper Lonsdale 56% 32%. 12% :Lynn Valley: 56% - 23% . 21% : Blucridge/Deep Cove: 74% 18%. 8% .
