bagged another contract with a

corporate heavyweight. for its
zero-emission fuel cell.

The North Vancouver-based
company announced April 5 that it
received a $6-million contract with
General Motors to provide fuel cells
for an automotive engine. |

Ballard will supply fuel cells for
testing and integration by, General

The hybrid engine will then be
placed in a prototype fuel cell clec-
tric automobile.

“Following our successful par-
licipation in the first phase of the
program, we are pleased to join GM
as a partner in the development and
commercialization of a fuel cell
engine for automobiles.” said
Ballard president Firoz Rasul.

be Dow Chemical, Du Pont, and the
Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Ballard’s fuel cell converts natur-
al gas or methanol fuel into electric-

emission vehicles and clean station-
