Paul Watson the eco-terrorist boasts that 20,000 trees have been spiked. Maniacs stormed { the ¢ legislature. But my thoughts are on South Africa because | was there last year when the whites voted against apartheid and for a better future. But the country is going down the drain. As a result of the campaign in which Ottawa has played a proud part, South Africa will soon join all those other African states in which democracy is a black joke. Thanks are due to Joe Clark, Brian Balonev, Pierre Trudeau, and every other damn-fcool politi- cian who believes that all cultures are suited to our style of govern- ment. South Africa is the engine that keeps Southern Africa going. But it will now become a basket-case begging for foreign aid and will! experience mayhem, murder and dictatorship that will far exceed anything seen under white rule. The whites will of course get no sympathy from our liberals. In the . liberals’ unspoken opinion they will deserve whai they get. Is that too gloomy a picture? Consider that neither the govern- ment in Pretoria nor the anti- apartheid hypocrites in the West trust the blacks. A clear sign of that was the South African decision to scrap its six nuclear bombs.
