The 1988 World Day of Prayer theme is Open Doors, written by the women of Brazil. St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 24th and Mountain Highway, in- vites people to join the church in prayer at | p.m. Babysitting is available. The Salvation Army at 105 West 12th St. invites the public to their ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Free babysitting will be provided and a tea will follow. The event will feature Christine McMillan as guest speaker. Options for volunteers SPRING IS. blossoming. Share some of your spring energy and vitality by volunteering to assist an individual or agency. The North Shore Information and Volunteer Centre has numerous requests for volunteers. WARM AND CARING person wanted to assist three-year-old special needs child with a gym class, Saturday mornings from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the William Griffin Centre. If you can spare only 45 minutes on Satur- days your help will be appreciated. GOOD INTERPERSONAL SKILLS? An enthusiastic and effi- cient person is needed to revitalize the volunteer program of a local gallery. Duties include establishing schedules for volunteers and - developing a monthly bulletin. If you are interested in the arts and are organized this is a great posi- tion for you. Some training is pro- vided and hours are negotiable. SENIOR ADULT volunteers needed for a keep-well program in the areas of nutrition, relaxation and massage. Training workshops are given every few weeks and the next one, on foot massage, takes place in the morning of March 9. A retired RN is also needed to take biood pressure. This is an interest- ing new health concept for senior adults that is expending across the North Shore. DONOR PHONER. Volunteers ~ are needed to phone and remind blood donors. A home phone training program and a computer list are provided. Three to four hours per month are required. The training program is free. Good English skills essential. PHOTOGRAPHERS needed to develop and enlarge black and white photographs. The volunteer must have access to a darkroom every three weeks. Costs will be paid. Here’s an opportunity to utilize those darkroom skills. COOKING INSTRUCTOR needed to coordinate and implement cook- ing programs for a youth group aged 6 to 12 years. If you have some experience with children and enjoy cooking here is a chance to share your culinary expertise. Hours are negotiable. A. commit- ment of three months is required.
