The appeal comes two weeks be- fore the campaign for $11.6 mil- lion is scheduled to end, with just over $6 million in the bank. “We want to ensure that every person in the Lower Mainland has an opportunity to give through the United Way,” said general cam- paign chairman Barbara Rae in announcing the special mailing. The United Way mailer has an envelope for sending a cheque back to United Way. It also lists the agencies and gives some in- formation on the kinds of services which depend on the United Way campaign for support. “The United Way campaign de- pends on individual givers for more than 75 per cent of the funds raised. That's why we're trying to get our message through to as many people as possible, by all possible means, in order to make our goal.’’ Rae said the special mailing is being sent to more than 150,000 people in neighborhoods across the Lower Mainland, including North French books to go on sale FRENCH BOOKS for all ages and interests will be on sale at the Van- couver French Book Certre’s Autumn French Book Fair.
