BRIDGE LAKE

A WELL-KNOWN and well-liked North Van-
couver resident was killed Monday when his float
plane crashed on take off at Bridge Lake near 100
Maile House in the interior of the province.

Ewart Graham Valde, aged

47, was the pilot and lone
occupant of the plane that

crashed after being caught tn
a strong wind as he attemp-
ted to take off.

Valde had spent the
weekend at a cabin on the
lake with his family, who
had returned to North Van-
couver,by automobile.

Funeral services are being
held this afternoon al the
Highland United Church in
North Vancouver, where
Valde was a member of the
parish.

time resident ot the North
Shore.

According to friends, he
was popular and an energetic
community worker, serving
through the church and the
Shriners. He was also heavi-
ly involved with youth work.
