A more recent inci- dent, in mid November 1976, . involved a North Shore girl whe collided into a stationary railway boxcar, causing her serious injury. She has since been released from Lions Gate Hospital. At the time of the November one-car accident, the difference in height between the road and the shoulder was six inches in some areas. City crews have since levelled the height. In a report December 7, 1976 io North Vancouver City Mayor Tom Reid and Council members, City Engineer Tom Scott commented on the strip between Kennard Ave-_ nue and Esplanade: ‘It is of substandard width being only 20 feet wide.
