Stations silenced Seymour transmitters shut down Sarah Woodend Contributing Writer THERE was silence on the FM dial Monday morning when five radio trans- mitters on Mount Seymour shut down. Bob Mills, program director for CFOX, said the morning “wasn’t roo shiny” after the station lost its frequency at 7:40 a.m. The station was off the air for about 90 minutes until the signal returned with partial power. Listeners tuned into the FOX were treated to a French station, which Mills suspects was CBC, Five Vancouver stations share the = 18-year-old antenna owned by Rogers Cable TV and located on Mount Seymour. CFOX, CJJR, CKZZ all went off the air. CKKS- KISS was off the air until it switched to a back-up transmitter in Burnaby at around 8 am. The pawn shop lecaied at 149 Lonsdale Ave. in North Vancouver City closed its doors last week after a visit from members of the North Vancouver RCMP burglary section. Police were at the shop after receiving 3 burglary tip. Caouette said during their visit, the police noticed differences in serial numbers of store items compared with what way recorded in the store’s dealer's registry, The store was then closed for a day for a complete store inventory, It did not reopen. Caouette said that in the wake of the police visit, the store’s owner, who was out of the country, cannot renew his business licence, but must re-apply. The business licence application would require approval from North Vancouver City council members. “Given what happened fast week we would be fooking at the application very carefully,” said Caouette. North Vancouver RCMP Const. Blair Yorke said items appeared to be put up for sale in the store immediately instead of after a three-day cooling off period, as required by a bylaw. Police allege that the serial numbers of items were inaccu- rately recorded so that Mounties had difficulty checking if some items were stolen, “We went in and said, ‘What do you have here that you know is stolen?” and they (store staff) brought out a televi- sion,” said Yorke.
