North Van man pens opera

EGRMER North Van resi-
dent Paul Goodraan has
created the libretto foc a
modern opera that pre-
mieres in Munich this
week.

Called The Mother of Black
Winged Dreams, the opera debuts

at the Festival of 1996.

He was invited to collaborate
on the opera by Hana Kolenty, a
well-known Polish composer. The
opera, which features 10 singers, is
a series of dreamlike sequences. It
will be perforined in Hamburg in
1997 and in Holland in 1998.

At age 21, Goodman left the
North Shore for Holland to study
electronic music at the Phillips
