Choose your car on disc GENERAL MOTORS of Canada Limited has retain- ed Bull Information Systems Limited to convert the GM Parts catalogue into compact disc format (CD), beginning with the 1994 model year. From September 1993 on, the GM Parts catalogue will be available to GM _ dealers across Canada in electronic format or on microfilm on- ly. With the Bull Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC), all part infor- mation, images, charts, text and part numbers will be contained on one compact disc (CD). Dealers can retrieve the information through a compact disc (CD- ROM) linked to a personal com- puter, and display it on a high- resolution monitor. “General Motors is committed .to providing state-of-the-art technology in parts catalogues to the dealer organization, insuring that customers are serviced quick- ly and efficiently,’ said Barry McQuillin, director of sales and Parts catalogues, General Motors Service and Parts Operation. “The Electronic Parts Cata- logue system wiil be an invaluable tool to increase customer satisfac- tion in the dealership. Countermen will be able to access information more quickly, avoiding time delays and reducing obsolescence in inventory.”’ GM and Bull will showcase the EPC to dealers in a series of in- formation seminars across Canada beginning in April 1992. The CD hardware and software will be compatible with existing dealer in-house computer systems. EPC features: © Total integration — terminal emulation provides access to in- house inventory system and allows data updates into the systems. KIDS’ From page 24 a.m. N.V.
