North Shore athletes finish first in Victoria duathlon THOMAS BALLINGALL of West Vancouver finished first in his 30-34 age group and second overall at the recent B.C. Tel Vic- toria Fat Tire Duathlon. And sill Curry of West Van- couver was first in his 45-49 age group and third overall in the Fat Tire event. The event was the seventh of eight events in a series of races held around the province this summer. Each event features a regular (5-km run, 30-km cycle, §-km run) series race for regular road bikes and a Fat Tire (2-km run, 10-km cycle, 2-km run) series race for mountain bikes. Andrew Touvinen of Vancouver took first place for the men and Ann Scoville of Vancouver took first place for the women in the regular series on Sunday. In the Fat Tire, Reb Forman of Rich- mond finished first for the men and Anno Brix of Victoria finished first for the women. Other North Shore athletes did extremely well, In the regular series, Colin Dignum finished third overall and David Rudd was second in the 55-59 age group. . In the Fat Tire event, Liz McKinney finished first in her age group, Mel Farrell finished sixth overall and second in his 30-34 age group, and Jason Delvicario was second in 12-15 age group. TWO YOUNG North Vancouver divers posted some excellent results at the Age Group Na- tionals in Thunder Bay, Ont., last month. In age group '*D*’ for 11 and under, Suzanne Bell was second on the three-metre springboard and third on the one metre.
