Versatile workers to vote on offer VERSATILE PACIFIC Shipyards Inc.'s unionized emptoyces will vote Sunday on a contract offer from the company. Reports that employees would be asked to accept a one-third cut in their wages in the offer and thereby reduce hourly wages for many to $12, were inaccurate, Versatile president David Alsop sald Thursday. “After six months of negotiation, we believe we have made a responsible offer in view of the economic realities we are facing,’ Alsop said. ‘I am astounded that there would be any public relense of (contract negotiation) information when there was an agreement that nothing would be released to the media until a vote had been iaken.*' Local union officials said information about the negotiations originated from Victoria. Versatile, along with its Vancouver partner Sandwell Swan Wooster, is currently in the design stage of the $350 million Polar Class 8 icebreaker contract. The current limited number of repair and shipbuilding contracts has reduced the workforce at Versatile's yard to less than 100 tradesmen. Construction on the Polar 8 is expected to begin in mid-1989, 3 E Loot-losing lady - fucks in A 59-YEAR-old Vancouver woman lucked in Wednesday after having a purse stuffed full of money in a Super Yalu shopping cart at Park Royal in West Vancouver returned to her.
