on N. Shore

THE POPULATIONS of North
Vancouver City and District in-
creased by about four per cent
from 1981 to 1986, while the popu-
lation of West Vancouver remain-
ed relatively static.

Recent figures released by
Statistics Canada showed the pop-
ulation of North Vancouver City
increased from 33,952 to 35,350,
or 4,1 per cent, over the five-year
period.

Population in North Vancouver
District, meanwhile, increased
from 64,904 to 67,896, or 4.6 per

municipality’s population crept up
.7 per cent from 35,728 in 1981 to
35,993 in 1986.

The population of 23
municipalities and electoral areas
that participate in Greater Van-
couver Regional District activities
increased by an overall total of 8.5
per cent.

Total population of the Greater
Vancouver area, including Langley
township, Langley City, Matsqui,
Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge,
was 1,421,371 in 1986, an increase
of 111,136 people over the 1981
census.
