Troy -Music at. ¢ Westview Shopping Centre: Singers sought for Centennial THE PACIFIC Wave International Youth Music Festival! is now audi- tioning talented young amateur and semi-professional musicians and singers from Vancouver and British Columbia. The festival is part of the City of Vancouver's centennial celebrations and will be held in Vancouver between October 24 and November |. Over 400 young musicians and singers from Canada and countries of the Pacific Rim will participate in the festival. They will be playing in Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Robson Square Media Center, Commodore Ballroom, and in Vancouver high schools. The festival is looking for popular, rock and roll, and folk groups; jazz bands and jazz and gospel choirs; solo singers and performers; classical orchestras, groups and soloists; plus ensembles of traditional music of Canada and cultures of the Pacific Rim. Those eligible are young amateur and semi-professional musicians be- tween the ages of 13 and 25. Only performers who make 100 ; per cent of their income from music or’ who exceed the age limits are ineligible. The audition committee is composed of Vancouver musicians and music professionals. It will be meeting in Vancouver from May 1 to June 30 to review the many applications expected. Applications must include an audio cassette | and a portfolio.
