VANCOUVER COUNCH.

Sirs:

Re the Westport garbage 7
dump.

The first thing I think i is to
call it what it is, a garbage |
dump, and stop all these
fancy and misleading names ©
such as Westport Park
Landfill Project, étc. It is a

dump if I ever saw one, and |

all the elaborate adjectives in
the. world - cannot ‘disguise «
this fact.

I do not know the idiot who
first conceived the idea of
putting a garbage dump at.
the entrance to Westport
subdivision, but one thing I
am absolutely positive of, is
that he does not live in this
area himself.

I am surprised that who-
ever he is; ‘along with his .
colleagues who laughingly
call themselves ‘‘The Plan-

ning Board,’’ did not think of |

maybe putting this dump in

I have been astonished to
discover that there are so
many individuals on the

North Shore who were
completely unaware of the
existence of the North Shore
Stroke Club.

Speaking as one who has
suffered from a_ stroke, I
know what a terrible exper-
ience it is to be active one
moment and to be to a large
extent,’ completely helpless
the. next second.

We who are active mem-
bers of the Club, are only too
cognizant of the need of
companionship and under-
standing, not sympathy,
which is something we must
stay away from, but to
develop a completely positive
attitude and to have a desire
to better our condition,
mentally and physically.

We have a splendid place
for our meetings which are
on the first Tuesday of each
month. The Stroke Club is
sponsored by the North
Shore Adult Day Care Centre
and the meetings are held at
the Centre at 1044° St.
Georges, North Vancouver.
Transportation to and from
the meetings is provided for
those who require it.

Many members of the .

Stroke Club also attend the
Centre which operates every
week day. Here one can
pursue different hobbies or
play whist, bridge or crib-
age. The Adult Day Care
Centre has a_ wonderfully
_ dedicated and understanding

staff who are always ready to
help.
