YGUNG musicians may be looking at increased
funding in the future.

Following a motion by Coun. Ernie Crist and seconded by
Coun. Doug MacKay-Dunn, North Vancouver District coun-
cil will consider doubling the current funding for the arts with
a specific request to the North Shore Arts Commission that
grants for youth in music be increased. In return, the youths
would be expected to commit themselves to playing in the
community as may be required at appropriate times.

Meanwhile, three young local athletes have been honoured
by council for their achievements at the Canadian Junior Track
and Field Championships.

Andrea Engelmann, Scott McDonald, and Ryan Weber all
represented the district in the Montreal- based eversc last July.
They each received a $100 sport and recreation travel grant in
recognition for their accomplishments on the national stage.
