John Whyte, party president for the riding currently held by NDP MLA David Schreck, said the party has three candidates who have sub- mitted applications for nomination. The candidates are Bob Kucheran, executive director of the B.C. Association; .Garth sales and leasing consultant for Jim Pattison Toyota. Whyte said the party has yet to set a date for the nomination. Liberal MLAs Jeremy Dalton (West Vancouver-Capilano) and Daniel Jarvis (North Vancouver- Seymour) will nin for their own seats. Whistler Mayor Ted Nebbeling will stand against former Liberal David Mitchell for West Vancouver- Garibaldi. There is also activity in the Reform Party. Bill. Stewart, party chairman for West Vancouver- Capilano, said the candidate conmit- tee has “several candidates in mind.” but wasn’t prepared to disclose them at this stage. Stewart expects North Vancouver- Lonsdale to have a candidate within the next few weeks. The Reform Party candidate committee for North Vancouver-Seymour also has identi- fied a number of candidate hopefuls and will be holding interviews soan. Meanwhile Schreck said he isn’t aware of any NDP candidates submit- ting ‘applications in the North and West Vancouver ridings. The NDP has a year left in its mandate. Party strategists are gearing up for a fall vote in the wake of polls showing a rise in NDP popularity.
