theory, color coordination will

Yellow, blue and red — placed |

color wheel — are the primary or
pure colors; all the remaining col-
ors result from mixing.

The secondary colors — green,
violet and orange — are mixtures
of the primaries.

Yellow plus blue yields green,
blue plus red yields violet, red plus
yellow yields orange.

Tertiary colors are mixtures of —
primaries (red) and secondaries
(orange).

* Adding white or black to any of
these colors produces an unlimited
range — from the lightest pastel
to the darkest shade.

When the circle is divided, the
colors from green to red-violet are
considered cool colors.

When mixed with grey they
have a serene and tranquil effect
which helps to ease stress.

Cool blues and greens also
create a sense of formality and
elegance.

Light tints of these colors are
used to visually expand space, to
make small rooms appear bright
and airy.

Warm colors range from red to
yellow-green, Red, orange and
yellow are inviting; they generate
optimism and stimulate the ap-
petite.

They are the colors that create
warm and welcoming interiors, in-
door sunshine.

They also have a tendency to
enclose space, to make walls ap-
pear closer than they are.

I should mention that the

warmth or coolness of a color is

influenced by mixing. Green is
warm when mixed with yellow; it
becomes cool when mixed with
