NV man acquitted of sex charges A 44-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was acquitted Monday in Vancouver county court of two sexual assault-rclated charges. David Edward Ryan was originally charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of gross indecency in connection with incidents alleged to have occurred between Sept. 1 and April 14 in which a male was allegedly assaulted. Appearing Monday for trial in Vancouver county court, Ryan was acquitted of both charges. Gas stations warned of hazard NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP urge local gas stations to exercise caution when confronted with unusual or suspicious circumstances. A caller recently phoned a Port Moody self-serve gas station in- quiring about a Jost bag. The caller insisted that the bag was located somewhere on the station lot. When the attendant left the station to check, the atten- dant was grabbed, forced hack into the station and robbed. NV man jailed for probation breach . A 32-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was sentenced Jan. 20 in North Vancouver provincial court to four months in jail after he pleaded guilty to charges of breaching his probation and impaired driving. . _- Mark Douglas Bruce was originally charged with breaching the terms of his probation in connection with incidents between June and October 1987 in which he failed to report to his probation of- ficer. He was also charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding .08 in connection with an Aug. 9, 1987 incident. Appearing before Judge 3.K. Shaw, Bruce pleaded guilty to breaching his probation and impaired driving and was sentenced to four month jail terms on each count. The sentences will be served concurrently. ‘ The Crows entered a stay of proceedings in the over .08 charge. In addition to the jail term, Bruce was prohibited from driving for 18 months. ‘Fine given for UIC. fraud A 29-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was fined $1,700 Wed- nesday in North Vancouver provincial court after he pleaded guilty to 17 counts of making false statements to the Unemployment In- surance Commission.. Rick Boden was originally charged in connection with false statements made on UIC report cards about earnings made from Feb. 2; 1986 to Sept. 27, 1986.” _ Appearing before Judge J.K. Shaw, Boden pleaded guilty to all 17 counts and was fined $100 on each count. He was also placed on probation for three years and ordered to perform 200 hours of community work service. |Surrey man jailed for theft A SURREY man was sentenced Wednesday in West Vancouver provincial court to six months in jail after police nabbed two peo- _ ple. Tuesday who were observed breaking into cars parked at Ambleside Beach. - Elmer Allan Johnson, 47, and Rhonda Alice Barnett, 27, both of 14906 108th Ave., were stopped by West Vancouver Police at the intersection of 13th Street and Bellevue Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. _ Johnson was charged with theft under $1,000, attempted theft, and possession of instruments suitable for breaking into vehicles. Barnett faces charges of possession of stolen property, theft under $1,000 and attempted theft. Police recovered a stolen Jady’s purse and contents. Johnson, who police say has a criminal record spanning 30 years, appeared in West Vancouver provincial court Wednesday and pleaded guilty to the three charges. Barnett’ was released from custody and will appear to face { charges at a later date.
