Keith Varga was shaken from his sleep by his 22-year-old son Gabriel just before 4:30 a.m. According to Varga’s next door neighbor Lyan Dejong, Gabriel was having a restless night, smelled smoke and dashed into his parent's bedroom to wake them. Father, son, mother Lynn and threc-month-old Aaron managed {fo scramble down a tree from an upstairs balcony. The children’s grandmother Leiia, who was sleeping downstairs, escaped through the back living room door. The two-storey post and beam style cedar home was totally engulfed in flames by the time firefighters ar- rived on scene. It was totally destroyed. Damage is estimated at $180,000.
