its six-year history, the Tex-
ada-Lasqueti ‘Yacht Race
will breeze across its cus-
tomary Point Grey bell buoy
starting fine in September.
The local sailing competi-
tion is staged by the Royal
Vancouver Yacht Club. It
includes three racing - divi-
sions and eight classes and
features two race courses: a
{34 nautical mile-course

chances in the remainder of

tracted 28 yachts; organizers
are hoping for 40 entrants
this year.

Depending on winds, the
race can take up to 48 hours
to complete. Best time in the
short course is currently 25
hours held by the crew of
Teesa, skippered by Don
Martin of Richmond; best
time in the long course is
26:1:09 held by the crew of
Windbird, skippered by
Seattle’s Glen Vtgaard.

Starting time is scheduled
for 6:00 p.m. September 13.
