BERYL WRIGHT Popular teacher passes away NORTH VANCOUVER School District was saddened June 14, by the sudden death of Beryl Wright, 54, a popu- lar and well-known teacher in the district’s elementary schools, Beryl began her teaching career at North Star, where she met Jean Marshall,-a colleague and Sater close friend. Together they developed curriculum guides and activities for the teaching of language arts and social studies. These contributions have been ex- tensively used throughout the district for many years. Beryl was instrumental in introducing field trips to the schools’ curriculum. Her thoughtful organization and encouragement of field trips has enriched the lives of many North Vancouver stu- dents. ; . Beryl served as Intermedi- ate Consulant in the North Vancouver schools, went on exchange to England in the school year 1957/58, and from 1969 to 1971 taught with the Department of Na- tional Defence Schools in Lahr, Germany. Her other teaching assignments in North Van- couver have been at Cleve- land and at Brooksbank. She died of a heart attack at the North Vancouver Outdoor School at Paradise Valley, where the Brooksbank Grade 7's were enjoying a year-end camp- out.
