STATISTICS RELEASED
by the Insurance Advisory
Organization of Canada in-
dicate that graduates of
driver education programs
have more accidents than
those who don’t take the
courses.

In a five-year study con-
ducted by the B.C. Motor
Vehicle Department from
1974-1979, program
graduates from all driver
training schools were com-
pared to untrained drivers
with accident rates used as
the measure of performance.

The study showed that
there were 550 accidents per
1,000 untrained drivers while
