VAN CITY BUSINESSES WATCHED Marcino - beware of snake oil salesmen THE DAYS of the snake-oil salesman aren't completely gone, Alderman Frank Marcino warned his North Vancouver City council colleagues Monday night. Marcino said City staff has to keep track of all the businesses that operate in the City — even down to the flea market level — to make sure no funny stuff goes on. That, he said, is why the City requires participants in the annual Folkfest to take out business licences. even though the City pays for the licences itself. The licence provides a record of the merchant. Council spent 25 minutes wrangling over procedure before deciding to approve a grant lo cover the cost of the licences. Alderman Stella Jo Dean used that time to slam the City’s licencing pohcy, under which the Folkfest par: ticipants will pay about $4,000 in hcence fees for a few days. while a _ big supermarket pays only $2,000 for the entire year. The summer Folkfest includes a flea market and arts and crafts fair, beth of which need business OAKRIOGE 266-8811 The leather rts book Ptaliatis krveew us fecl otfiers voor thre colin Mock of Goreat Northern Leather ataas much as 60 porecnt off repiabar precs ctatted Htartiuars wre Conan cttootmatis beove squucahk try vevtlertierty squicak oof Lawiirrenas Ve avthrest the meaning of fine qaadity Now Sapeors Show tom bortve teuetbiet NODES wl prebe an wiatties Purniture aba wave nbory Saale leather furniture won Sofas oc dhairs ser dew Ntohka ec atti passin ug three cee ti 19th Anniversary Sale Everything In The Store At Sale starts brathiy whale fret as Studie on licences.
