Seven hundred youngsters
from throughout’ the
province. including athletes
from the Nor Westers track
club competed in the two
day Junior Development
Track and Field Cham-
pionship held last weekend
at Swangard Stadium.

The aim of the event was

to discover who were the
best eight athletes in their
age grouping in the
province.

Diana Osborne. aged &.
was the most successful

athlete for the Nor Westers
with golds in the long imp
and 100m. bronze medals in
the high jump and 200m, a
fourth place in the 80m
hurdles, and fifth places in
the 400m and 800m.

Other Nor’Westers who

placed well were:

Eight years- Sccri: Thit-
chener, fourth in 4%)m and
1500m.

Nine years: Dyluc Grif-
fith, fifth in 800m.

10 years- Tammy
Lawrence, second in high
jump and third i 80m
