theme of a five part series
being offered to volunteers

by. the North Shore
Volunteer Action Centre.

The Centre is sponsoring
this program in cooperation
with the Junior League of
Vancouver, whose trainers
Carolyn Coleclough, Gael
Paddack, and Sandra Wilson
will conduct, the course.
Starting date is Monday
February 5 continuing on
successive Mondays to
March 5, from 9:30 a.m. to
noon.

Parks grant

to GVRD

- A contribution of

$654,077.94 has been made
to Greater Vancouver
Regional District under the
Regional Parks Act, it was
announced recently by
Minister of Lands, Parks and
Housing, James R. Chabot.

This grant is one-third of
the district’s capital ex-
penditures on regional parks
in the period December 2,
1977 to November 3,.: 1978,
bringing the province's total
contribution fo the

acquisition and development
of regional parks in the
district to $6,760,343.38.

‘The’ district's park
program, while © still
predominantly acquisition-
oriented, is steadily moving
toward more development.

The Regional Parks Act
was passed in 1965 to
facilitate the provision of
outdoor recreation facilities
and open space on a region-
wide basis.
