The ports were delight-
ful, some two-pub villages,
some of the three-pub vari-
ery.

There were also craft
shops, sometimes one, or
maybe nvo.

There was nota lot of
tension in the week. In fact
there’s u local saving “It’s
nice re rest all day —- and
do nothing afterwards.”

The vessel provided a
foating plattorm to view
one of the most beautiful
parts of the Emerald Isle,
and every day there was
transportation available to
historic places like Cloghan
Castle or Galway for shop-
ping.

I enjoyed Birr, inevitably
known as the coldest town
in Ireland, for ats golf
course.

Yes, the Shannon Princess
caters to golfers. Not only
that but the route allows for
a grand course to be played
every day. The renowned
links of Lahinch await all
comers, While Glasson, a
fairly new course by Christy
©’Connor Jr., is pure
magic.

Gahway Bay is another
fine outing, and few courses
around here are expensive,
mostly around £25 (other
than Lahinch at £40.

Abour 30 courses are
within range of the Shannon
Princess.

Riding is also popular in
these parts and passengers
can avail themselves of near-
by equestrian centres and
go exploring on horseback.
