The residents of Montroyal East knew when they bought their prop- erties that the extension had then been on the books many yeurs later. The residents on Queens, on Capilano, on Ridgewood, on Skyline, Highlands, and — yes — on the existing Montroyal Boulevard accept their share of traffic cheerful- ly — all in the public interest. Whether the Westwood intersee- tion is being developed (it has been on the books several times before) or not is neither here nor there. There must be a connector in upper North Vancouver. Let’s hope that someday we can extend it across the Capilano River into upper West Vancouver. I wish to congratulate councillor Ernie Crist and his colleagues for standing up to some isolated vocal ratepayer groups in pushing projects that are in the public interest. Walter A. Boppart North Vancouver Trojan horse Dear Editor: Re: This week’s question, July 24 edition. Your question, “Should the Montroyal Connector be built cre- ating a parallel northern route to . the Trans Canada Highway” is, in my opinion, biased and mislead- ing in that it implies the comple- tion of a route accommodating a high volume of traffic similar to that of the Trans Canada Highway which now traverses the North Shore. This spectre of a parallel — northern route to the Trans Canada based on Montroyal and the completion of the connector is a Trojan horse that has served the opponents of the connector well during the past 30 years of wran- gling over the matter. in real terms, the local topog- see ce . te . raphy and proposed alignment 98 Our initiation fee is rising from $5,000 to $7,500 on September Ist, will by themselves tend to cap = ? > significant increases in volume; fsa so there is no better time for your family to become part of our the main benefit will be to zase Louis R Despit : proud 37 year tradition on the North Shore.
