peacefully October 31, 1992 at the oge
of 78. He is survived by his daughter
Elizabeth Mary (Fowler) and son An-
thony. Born in Colchester, England, Bill
was apprenticed a3 an electrical
engineer, and served on the Empress of
Britain from 1938 until the ship was
sunk by enemy action in 1940. He serv-
ed with the British Merchant Navy
throughout the War and first visited
Vancouver in 1941 when helping to
commission a new ship. Bill met his
first wife Ruth (Greene) in Vancouver.
After a period in London, he returned to
B.C. as Chief Electrical Engineer aboard
the.Princess Marguerite. From 1953 un-
til his retirement in 1979 Bill was a
Service Engineer for Canadian General
Electric in_ Vancouver, and Cal ay
(1955-58). Ruth died in 1982, an
1985 Bil! married Esme McAlister. A
happy shared retirement sadly enced
last December with Esme’s death. Sil!
will be greatly missed by sll whe knew
him, A memorial service witi be held at
St. Stephen's Church, West Vancouver,
Novernber 16 at 2pm. in liew of flowers,
please send donations to the Palliative
Care Unit at Lions Gate Hospital.
