McIntyre House

FACING 20th Street on a

large corner lot in West.

Vancouver is a Craftsman-
style home known as the
‘Mcintyre House.

The bay window in‘the lower
front of the house overlooks a
modest porch. The house’s
. distinctive roofline is enhanced by
a prominent front gable adorned
by decorative triangular brackets
— a typical Craftsman feature.

-. Built in 1921, it was the home

of Mr. and Mrs. Mclntyre (origi-
nally from England) and their
four children, Margaret, Alan,
Stuart and Jim.

The Mcintyre family gained
Prominence in the North Shore

ents.

The four children formed a
musical group known as the
Mcintyre String Quartet. Together
they played cellos, violins and
piano, and performed for the
Lonsdale Theatre Group.

Margaret McIntyre, in addition,
was a pianist for the West Van-
couver Choral Society and taught
piano and violin to many students
throughout the North Shore
community.
