A woman who is very confident in her style may like to believe that she is totally responsible for the evolution of her wardrobe and is in full control of what she wears. But, in reality, the fashion industry has made the broad choices, and her own tastes decide between the particular styles that are available. As designers alter proportion, shape and detail, they offer not only a new way to dress, but sug- gest you reconsider the way you view dressing — what you now consider flattering, appropriate and in good taste. Their changes reflect even the way you sce the clothing already in your closet. As the new styles on the runway, in magazines, and in stores become more unlike what- you own, it causes you: to grow increasingly awa2re of a‘‘‘staleness”’ in your ex- isting wardrobe. And, each season, you decide that it is time to closet clean. Think of your wardrobe as ever-changing.
