Both Knight and Hauptman thanked WVTA president John Luccock for his enthusiasm in en- couraging his members to give generously to the campaign. “Across Canada,’* Hauptman said, *‘people affiliated with labor are very good givers and are always people helping people.” Knight tcld the North Shore News that he was especially proud that the campaign far exceeded the original goal of doubling the number of school district employees participating. "We were 166 per cent over the 1989 figure,”’ he said. Six per cent of employees gave last year, but this year it was 16 per cent — for a total of about 500 employees.
