ERT meee SS cor ARTUR Y OREN ASE NEWS BRIEFS Man charged in Porsche crash A 20-YEAR-old Vancouver man has been charged with theft over $1,000 after a stolen car driven by the man crashed at the north end of Lions Gate Bridge just before 2:30 a.m. Friday. A 1978 Psrsche 928, stolen from North Vancouver, was totatled in the erssh. A West Vancouver Police spokesman said the driver fled the scene of the accident but was later arrested. Two injured 17-year-old Vancouver women were sent to Lions Gate Hospital. Charged is George Niotis of 4-5150 Ontario St. Studio bomb scare a false alarm NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP were called to North Shore Stu- dios Thursday afternoon to investigate a suspected bomb threat. Studio general manager Ralph Alderman received a suspicious- looking device found by an employee and called in police to check the package out. The suspected bomb was described as a film can wrapped up with duct tape. An electrical plug was protruding from the can. But a police spokesman said the scare was a false alarm. The bomb turned out to be a misplaced prop found in a storage area. Hearing set in charges against officer A NORTH Vancouver RCMP officer will appear for a prelimi- nary hearing at North Vancouver provincial court on Jan. 16, 1991 to face charges of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and aggravated assault. The charges against Const. Glenn William Magark, 39, were laid on Aug. 2 following the March 19 shooting injury of 31- year-old David Lorne Glover of North Vancouver. Glover was shot in the chest during a police narcotics search and investigation. : Meanwhile, Glover will be in North Vancouver provincial court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 19 to face a charge of posses- sion of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
