TOYCTA SPCRTS CAR RECESIGNED FOR 1990

SLEEK, AERODYNAMIC bodywork, a luxurious interior,
new engine technology, revised suspension and an expanded
range of models highlight the 1990 Toyota Celica.

“*The new Celica is totafly redesigned for 1990,°" says Dick
Lan, zeneral manager tor Jim Pattison Toyota. ‘‘The use of
light-weight high-strength alloys aeveluped by Toyota inakes
the new Celica stronger, safer and more rust resistant than
ever before."’

Celica performance comes in three levels. The GT-S 4dWD
Turbo is fitted with a 200 horsepower, 2.0 litte engine which
utilizes a new dual exhaust manifold and turbe housing en-
trance gate. The GT-S and GT are fitted with a new 2,2 litre
130 horsepower engine.

All are electronically fuei injected, twin-cam/16 valve four
cylinder engines.

The 1990 Celica comes in three sleck, aerodynamic
bodystyles: a three-door liftback, a two-door coupe and a
“‘wide-body”’ liftback.

A smooth-shifting five-speed manual overdrive transmis-
sion is standard equipment on all 1990 Celicas. However, a
high performance four-speed automatic overdrive transmis-
sion with lockup torque converter is optional on all GT and
GT-S models.

An antilock braking system is standard equipment on the
GT-S 4WD Turbo and optional on the GT-S and steel belted
radial tires are standard equipment on all Celicas.

Celica uses high strength galvannealed siecl for interior
uses and Exellite UH for exterior body surfaces. Both materials
have excellent rust resistant properties.

This combination also produces a more rizid chassis
body which improves road holding, ride comfort, reduced
interior noise, Sibration and barshness.

In addition to a more rigid bedy structure, improved
engine mounts, additional sound insulation materiats, tush
surfaces, aerodynamic body and engine improvements con-
tribute to quieter vehicle performance.

Stendard on all SV and GP models is a four-speaker
AM/EM) stereo radio with electrame tune. No cussette deck

available with an optional 10-speaker 220 watt electronic
tuning AM stereo-FM stereo cassette combination with tone
control, compact disc player, digital code security system and
diversity antennz.
