11 - Wednesday, April 19, 1989 - North Shore News Proposed Lynnmour ‘castle’ comes under fire in NVD A PROPOSED ‘“‘castle’’ in Lynnmour came under fire from planning staff and residents alike at a recent public hearing before North Vancouver District Council. As previously reported in the News, Tom Bongalis has applied to rezone property at 1496 Rupert Street in order to establish a siting area to accommodate a firearms business. . According to the application, the building, named the Castle Armoury, is intended to create a readily identifiable structure which both complements and expresses the security requirements of the business. The design shows a miniature medieval castle constructed of split-faced concrete bloc’s, com- plete with a crenellated parapet, in tangerine orange. When it is part of a street scene it is rather more incongruous and therefore of considerable more concern.
